Total Event Resources celebrates 19 years of being a leader in the meeting management and special events business! We are sharing 19 fun facts that begin as far back as 1995…

On November 21, 1995 Kathy Miller launched Total Event Resources. A few other exciting successes that happened on this date:
– The Dow Jones industrial average closed above 5,000 for first time.
– The first entirely computer-animated movie was released, Toy Story.
– The Beatles released a double CD with new song, “Free As A Bird.”

In 1995 we produced our first client event, a dinner event with theme and entertainment that was a salute to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Broadway musicals.

Yes, that’s Kathy Miller looking on at one of our very first events as an attendee tries out the ‘Money Machine,’ a popular entertainment activity at that time. Themes and entertainment options have most definitely changed over our 19 years of producing events!

We’re proud to have many clients that have been with us for all or most of our 19 years in business. It’s always an honor working with our returning clients – we look forward to many more years of successful events with them!
– Global healthcare company has been a client for 19+ years
– International manufacturing company has been a client for 13 years
– Multinational food and beverage corp. has been a client for 7 years

After only 2 years of being in business Total Event Resources was awarded the prestigious Meeting Professionals International Chicago Area Chapter “1997 Supplier of the Year” award.

In 2002 we produced our first overseas project in Paris, France. Today, Total Event Resources is recognized as a meeting and event planning agency specializing in producing innovative programs in key cities all over the world.

The Gala awards, given by Special Events Magazine, define and recognize innovative and outstanding work in the special event industry. In 2005 we won our first two Gala awards for a multi-day meeting “Crunch Time” in the categories of “Best Event Entertainment Concept” and “Execution and Best Multiple Day Event Program for a Corporation.”

2006 was an exciting year as we moved into our current office space in Schaumburg, Illinois (a northwest suburb of Chicago).

In 2007 we received national certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise by the Women’s Business Development Center (WBDC), a regional certifying partner of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).

In 2010 Total Event Resources was honored to have three events selected and published in Panache Partners’ book, “Art of Celebration Chicago & the Greater Midwest: The Making of a Gala.”

After working with PepsiCo for three years we were recognized in 2011 as “Supplier of the Year” by the PepsiCo Global Fleet Procurement division. Their team shared, “What makes Total Event Resources so different and special is their pioneering implementation of a truly out-of-the-box approach to planning our meetings. It has been a key to our operational success in the past three years.”

IL Meetings and Events recognized two of Total Event Resources’ team members as Up and Coming Special Event Planners in their annual Hall of Fame issue – Sarah Schnell in 2011 and Lauren Bettcher in 2013.

In 2012 Total Event Resources’ Kathy Miller graduated from the Goldman Sachs “10,000 Small Businesses” program. A 3-year program for mission-driven business leaders, it was and continues to be an educational and mentoring resource for moving Total Event Resources forward in the meeting and events industry.

In 2012 Kathy Miller also proudly stepped into the leadership role as ISES – The International Special Events Society’s 2012-2013 President. Kathy’s contributions as a leader throughout those years provided vision and plans that continue to ensure a thriving creative events and meetings industry.

While Total Event Resources produces events and meetings all over the world we call Chicago, Illinois home. In 2012 we obtained a City of Chicago certification.

In 2013 we created a company manifesto which promotes our belief that every event isn’t just an event; it’s an opportunity to create a movement.

We have received over 40 international awards for creativity, ingenuity and industry contribution

From team activities to creating office traditions that celebrate our successes, our company culture is based on the same camaraderie that we so passionately persuade our clients to engage in. One such office tradition includes shaking a Native American rattle for every new proposal that goes out. Tradition has it that rattles are a symbol of strength, dignity and courage – 3 words we believe should start every new relationship! Another fun tradition includes ringing our ceremonial office bell when a new contract is signed – we believe that every time a bell rings a “client gets their wish!”

Our spirit of giving sets the foundation for the work we do today – through company wide philanthropic initiatives we truly believe that we can make a difference.
